Spanish phrases you may need to know
Llegar a ser aprobada: to become approved, to go so far as to be approved.
Se verían beneficiados: they would find themselves benefited.
O sea: in other words / that is to say.
Educación primaria: primary/elementary education.
Supremamente: highly/supremely (in Spain we would say
En la medida de lo posible: as far as possible.
Llevar nueve años de trabajo: to have been working for nine years.
Cómo piensas convencerlos: How do you plan to convince them.
Aterrizado: down to earth, with one’s feet on the ground (literally: landed;
el avión ha aterrizado, the plain has landed. I didn’t know this expression, we don’t use it at all in Spain :)).
Te estamos extrañando: we are missing you (in Spain it would be
te estamos echando de menos).
Ha culminado el proceso de gestación: the conception process has concluded.
Nos hemos ido de gira: we have been on tours.
Queremos comprender toda la región: we want to cover the whole region.
Tres billones de dólares: as you already know (if you read my article about Spanish numbers), in Spanish
un billónmeans “a million of millions”. I think here Shakira really means “three billion dollars”.
