Shakira subtitled video: TV Interview

隆Vaya! It took me forever, sorry for that! Well, as we use to say, m谩s vale tarde que nunca (better late than never) :)

So, here you are a new Spanish video, subtitled in Spanish. Here, Claudia Palacios, a well-known Latin-American journalist and newscaster, interviews Shakira. Both of them are Colombian.

Spanish phrases you may need to know

  • Llegar a ser aprobada: to become approved, to go so far as to be approved.
  • Se ver铆an beneficiados: they would find themselves benefited.
  • O sea: in other words / that is to say.
  • Educaci贸n primaria: primary/elementary education.
  • Supremamente: highly/supremely (in Spain we would say sumamente).
  • En la medida de lo posible: as far as possible.
  • Llevar nueve a帽os de trabajo: to have been working for nine years.
  • C贸mo piensas convencerlos: How do you plan to convince them.
  • Aterrizado: down to earth, with one’s feet on the ground (literally: landed; el avi贸n ha aterrizado, the plain has landed. I didn’t know this expression, we don’t use it at all in Spain :)).
  • Te estamos extra帽ando: we are missing you (in Spain it would be te estamos echando de menos).
  • Ha culminado el proceso de gestaci贸n: the conception process has concluded.
  • Nos hemos ido de gira: we have been on tours.
  • Queremos comprender toda la regi贸n: we want to cover the whole region.
  • Adinerado/a: wealthy.
  • Tres billones de d贸lares: as you already know (if you read my article about Spanish numbers), in Spanish un bill贸n means “a million of millions”. I think here Shakira really means “three billion dollars”.
